LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Introduces Immersive Audio System at The Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar
In a move to enhance the guest experience, LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has introduced an immersive audio system at The Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar, located within the newly opened Woodland Village.
The Clubhouse, an entertainment and hospitality space, is part of LEGOLAND Windsor’s expansion featuring themed lodges and amenities designed to immerse visitors in a world of fun and adventure. The immersive audio system, designed by David Shepherd of DS Audio, provides the perfect background atmosphere as well as audio for nightly entertainment and bigger events if needed.
The system, fully integrated into Woodland Village’s Resort-wide Q-SYS ecosystem, features an immersive, zoned EM Acoustics audio system. The remaining zones 2-4 of The Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar are equipped with a total of 48 EMS-41 loudspeakers and three S-48 subwoofers for the immersive audio system. The small stage area in Zone 1 is equipped with a pair of EMS-81Xs and an S-48 subwoofer.
The system was designed to provide immersive background audio and sound reinforcement for onstage performances. As visitors pass through the space, the sounds of nature appear to move with them, creating an unforgettable experience, especially for younger clientele.
Over a dozen audio stems of differing lengths and contents in both mono and multichannel formats were created by David Shepherd to facilitate the immersive system. Each audio stem has its own individual mapped route of loudspeakers to travel across the space, with this logic installed into the Q-SYS System. The Q-SYS System plays 16 channels of audio looped in sections throughout the day to create an immersive experience that sounds natural and random.
Shepherd collaborated with the internal technical team and integrators, JPSL, to design and install the full EM Acoustics system. A Allen and Heath mixing console and Sennheiser EWDx head-worn and handheld mics are used for hosting performances at The Clubhouse. Stage foldback for monitoring is through a single EMS-61 loudspeaker in the small stage area. Four DiQ10D amplifiers from EM Acoustics complete the system, with each loudspeaker on its own channel for independent control in an immersive installation.
The sound system at The Clubhouse has already received significant attention and positive feedback since its recent inauguration. The accuracy of EM Acoustics loudspeakers in reproducing sounds has been key to the project's success, according to David Shepherd.
