Man aged 30 detained for professional burglary and computer fraud in Sinsheim, Rhine-Neckar-Kreis; Heidelberg prosecutors launched a nationwide class action.

In a joint operation, the Police Headquarters Mannheim and the Public Prosecutor's Office Heidelberg have apprehended a 30-year-old suspect wanted for multiple pickpocketing offenses and fraudulent cash withdrawals using EC cards. The arrest, announced through news aktuell, took place in Bamberg on March 13, 2025.

The suspect had been at large since the summer of 2024, when he embarked on a series of pickpocketing crimes across Germany, targeting EC cards for fraudulent cash withdrawal. The crimes occurred in multiple cities, including Braunschweig, Bielefeld, Leipzig, Zwickau, Hannover, Bremen, and Sinsheim, where the suspect is believed to have stolen a wallet on February 20, 2025.

The stolen EC card was used by the suspect to withdraw €2,000. The arrest warrant was executed by the competent investigating judge, leading to the suspect's capture. Further investigations are focusing on other, previously unknown offenses.
