Meta Launches AI Tool Using Public EU Facebook and Instagram Posts
Meta has launched its AI tool for European Facebook and Instagram users. The new feature uses public posts from users to train and improve its AI capabilities.
Meta AI's training process involves a mix of publicly accessible data, licensed information, and user-generated content from its platforms. This includes posts shared on Instagram and Facebook.
Users should be aware that their public posts are actively being used for AI training. However, Meta assures that private messages are not included in this process.
Starting November 3, 2025, LinkedIn users in the EU and UK will also have their data used for AI training. Users aged 18 and above can opt out via LinkedIn's privacy settings, or delete their account entirely if they wish to completely avoid AI training.
Opting out on Instagram and Facebook involves accessing a form through the app's settings. For LinkedIn, users need to toggle off a specific setting in their privacy preferences. Meta requires users to fill out a form with their country of residence and email address to opt out of AI training.
Meta's AI rollout is set to enhance user experiences across its platforms. Users are encouraged to review their privacy settings and opt out if they prefer not to have their public posts used for AI training. LinkedIn users will soon have the same option.
