Microsoft Unveils Agent Mode for 365 Copilot, Boosting Word & Excel Productivity
Microsoft has rolled out a new AI-powered feature, Agent Mode, for Microsoft 365. This enhancement is initially available for Word and Excel apps, with web users being the first to benefit.
Agent Mode in Word allows users to create, draft, restructure, or format documents using simple instructions. It's currently rolling out for web users, with desktop support coming soon.
Meanwhile, Agent Mode for Excel is already available for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users and Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and Premium subscribers. It offers 57.2% accuracy in spreadsheet tasks, enabling users to accomplish complex tasks with simple prompts.
Microsoft has also introduced Office Agent, integrated into Copilot chat, which can generate polished Word documents or PowerPoint decks from simple instructions. This feature is launching first in the United States for Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and Premium subscribers, with global expansion planned later.
Microsoft continues to expand Office Agent capabilities, with PowerPoint support coming soon and Excel support expected in the coming months. Meanwhile, Microsoft 365 Copilot is integrating with various enterprise data sources and services globally, enhancing agent functionalities across regions.
