MPA Secures $665M Hudson Tunnel Project Extension to 2035
MPA Delivery Partners has secured a significant contract extension worth $665 million, extending its role in the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP) for another 4.5 years. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) has entrusted MPA to continue managing this crucial project, which is on track for completion in 2035.
The Hudson Tunnel Project, a cornerstone of the Gateway Program, is considered the most urgent rail infrastructure project in the United States. It involves constructing a new two-tube rail tunnel under the Hudson River and rehabilitating the existing tunnel, aiming to improve passenger rail service and enhance reliability.
MPA was selected as the delivery partner in February 2024, employing a collaborative delivery partner model that has proven successful in large-scale infrastructure projects. The project is driving demand for U.S. suppliers of steel, aggregates, rail and track, and ventilation systems, benefiting companies from multiple states. Companies from New York and New Jersey, in particular, are directly benefiting, as the project connects these states through the tunnel. The project is expected to create more than 95,000 jobs around the United States and generate over $19 billion in economic activity.
With the contract extension, MPA will continue to oversee the Hudson Tunnel Project, which is progressing on schedule. The project's completion in 2035 is expected to significantly improve rail services and stimulate economic growth across the United States.
