The Halle City Museum is set to host a special family afternoon event titled "Pixel art without a computer?" on Sunday, June 22, from 2 to 5 pm. This event is not part of the special exhibition "Play with!", but it is inspired by the historical computers on display in the exhibition.

On the previous day, June 21, the museum is hosting a separate event, "Gaming like in the 80s - Digital Games in the GDR". Both events are open to both children and adults, offering a unique opportunity to delve into the world of retro gaming.

During the June 22 event, visitors can participate in analog experiments and create their own "pixel artworks". However, unlike the June 21 event, this family afternoon does not include a guided tour of the "Digital Games" section in the "Play with!" exhibition or the opportunity to play on historical game consoles like the "Screen Game 01" or the "Poly-Play" arcade machine.

The "Screen Game 01", the only game console produced in the GDR, is one of the consoles on display. Only 1,000 pieces of this console were produced, allowing for games like tennis, football, squash, and pelota. Three "Poly-Play" machines are on display in the "Play with!" exhibition.

While there are currently no specific announcements or listings for gaming events at the Halle City Museum focused on the History of GDR computer games and retro screen games, several major events in 2025 can be found in other parts of Germany. These include the RetroGamesCon Speyer, RetroGamesCon Soltau, Ludo 2025 in Halbe (near Berlin), RetroGamesCon Nürnberg, and Retrogamesbörse Berlin.

For those interested in a themed exhibition or event at the Halle City Museum, it is advisable to check the official museum website or local event listings for updates. Alternatively, traveling to one of the larger retro-gaming conventions listed above could provide a broader look at the history of GDR computer games and retro gaming.

On June 22, the Halle City Museum will host a family event titled "Pixel art without a computer?" that encourages visitors to create their own "pixel artworks" through analog experiments, inspired by the historical computers on display in the "Play with!" exhibition. Despite this, the June 22 event does not offer a guided tour of the digital games section or an opportunity to play on historical game consoles such as the "Screen Game 01" and "Poly-Play" arcade machine.

Exploring the world of retro sports games and GDR computer technology beyond the Halle City Museum could be possible at upcoming events like RetroGamesCon Speyer, RetroGamesCon Soltau, Ludo 2025 in Halbe, RetroGamesCon Nürnberg, and Retrogamesbörse Berlin in 2025.
