Elon Musk's Exit: What Happened and What's Next

Billionaire tycoon Elon Musk, heading up the Department of Government Efficiency, hinted at his exit during the last US cabinet meeting, apparently set for May 30, according to our source, CNBC.

At the April 30 meeting, Musk proudly announced that his federal initiative to reduce the workforce is now an incredible $160 billion in the black. The CEO seemed to bid adieu to the Trump administration, the channel reports.

"It was a pleasure working with your exceptional cabinet," Musk said. "I just wanted to express my gratitude. It was an honor to work with each and every one of you."

Trump reciprocated with thanks, acknowledging Musk's sacrifices and the backlash he'd faced. "They like to burn my cars, and that's not very nice," Musk retorted. However, Trump asserted that "the vast majority of Americans truly respect and value" Musk.

Trump even declared May 8 as Victory Day in World War II, praising Musk for his contributions. The room erupted in applause at the compliment.

Trump later stated that the State Department, managed by Musk, would diminish at a certain point, with Musk returning to business. Despite the announcement, Musk himself confirmed his preference for business over government work.

Rumors of disputes between Musk and the Trump administration swirled, with disagreements regarding introductions of tariffs and staff cuts as prime examples. In fact, Musk had publically called Trump’s top trade advisor Peter Navarro an "idiot."

However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio didn't seem fazed by the staff cuts issue, maintaining a positive relationship with Musk.

As Musk prepares for his departure, he will reportedly maintain an informal advisory connection with the administration, focusing mainly on his core business interests like Tesla and SpaceX.
