NatWest Cushon boosts investment department through addition of three high-level recruits

NatWest Cushon, a leading provider of workplace pensions, has made three senior appointments to bolster its investment capabilities. The new hires are part of the company's strategy to scale its business and develop its investment proposition towards £25 billion assets under management (AUM).

Rahil Ram, a qualified actuary with extensive experience in multi-asset investing and risk management, has been named as the head of investment strategy at NatWest Cushon. Previously, Rahil was the head of climate investing at Fulcrum Asset Management and a director in the absolute return team. Prior to that, he worked as a multi-asset strategist at Legal & General Investment Management.

In his new role, Rahil will work closely with NatWest Cushon's trustees to refine its investment strategy and enhance outcomes for members. His expertise aligns with NatWest Cushon's mission of building better financial futures.

Kinna Patel, who previously served as the DC investment director at Legal & General Investment Management, has been appointed as the head of investment proposition at NatWest Cushon. Kinna's appointment comes as NatWest Cushon seeks to focus on innovation and climate integration in its investment approach. Kinna's prior experience as an investment consultant at Hymans Robertson will be valuable in this role.

In addition to her new role, Kinna has also been appointed as the head of external investment engagement at NatWest Cushon. She stated that NatWest Cushon's focus on innovation and climate integration stood out to her during the hiring process.

Martin Logan, who joins NatWest Cushon from Coutts, a part of the NatWest Group, has been appointed as the responsible investment manager. Martin's prior experience includes a role at Nationwide's defined benefit scheme, where he developed ESG strategies and managed a portfolio of over 60 private investments. In his new role, Martin will focus on responsible investment and support the firm's evolving private markets strategy.

Veronica Humble, the chief investment officer at NatWest Cushon, stated that the hires come at a pivotal time for the growth and development of NatWest Cushon's investment proposition. She noted that the appointments are crucial for the firm as it scales the business and continues to develop its investment proposition.
