Netflix's Redesigned UI Sparks Mixed Reactions on Apple TV 4K

In a bid to modernise its interface, Netflix introduced a new look on Apple TV 4K in May 2025. The redesign includes a top bar with search, Home, Shows, Movies, Genres, and My Netflix, and a main rectangular top bar that rotates between content, including new seasons and top picks.

However, the redesign has been met with mixed reactions, particularly due to the introduction of new, non-disableable sounds. Some users find these sounds annoying or intrusive, leading to a "love it or hate it" divide among users.

Many subscribers have expressed distaste for the new sounds and layout, especially since they cannot turn them off. The redesign alters the familiar UI, causing frustration for users accustomed to the older interface.

Despite this, Netflix defends the redesign by highlighting the more informative and modern interface. Independent reviews note the redesign brings a cleaner interface, enhanced navigation, and improved recommendations, with a visually appealing and more accessible design.

Several users have described the new Netflix look as "Horrible" or "Gross". Some users on the r/appletv subreddit have expressed complaints about the repetitive sounds in the new Netflix look on Apple TV.

On the positive side, there are still subscribers who are pleased with the fresh look. Netflix's new look is now available on Apple TV and Apple TV 4K.

However, it seems Netflix remains committed to not supporting or integrating itself as a Channel within the Apple TV app, which could potentially make subscribers who watch on Apple TV 4K happier. A slow rollout of the new Netflix look could be a potential solution to appease users who are not fond of the redesign.

Below the main bar, there are rows, including the 'Continue Watching' feature. My Netflix in the new look contains your list, continue watching, and other recommended content. The sounds cannot be turned off, even if menu sounds are turned off in tvOS settings, as Netflix is apparently overriding it.

In summary, while the Netflix redesign on Apple TV 4K improves look, navigation, and recommendations, the introduction of new, non-disableable sounds has sparked user backlash, making the audio aspect one of the most criticized issues of the update. Netflix has so far not provided an option to disable these sounds, contributing to a divided user base.
