New Details on the 2024 CUPRA Tavascan: Pricing, Features, and Expected Release Date

The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as CUPRA unveils its latest offering, the Tavascan. This all-electric SUV coupé, based on the Volkswagen MEB platform, boasts a sleek design, premium features, and impressive performance.

The Tavascan comes in two main grades, each with distinct drivetrain specs. The base model, known as the Endurance, delivers 285 horsepower and 545 Nm torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The top-spec VZ grade bumps up the power to 340 horsepower and 675 Nm torque, reducing the 0-100 km/h time to a swift 5.6 seconds.

The Tavascan's battery and range are equally impressive. Equipped with a 77 kWh battery, it offers a WLTP range of up to 353 miles for the V1 and V2 trims and up to 324 miles for the VZ1 and VZ2 trims. It supports 135 kW DC fast charging for quicker recharge times.

The Tavascan's exterior is as bold as its performance. It features an aggressive, sporty design with a large grille accented by copper details and sharp creases. LED headlights and daytime running lights illuminate the road ahead, while the aerodynamically efficient rear sports an LED light bar and an illuminated logo.

Inside, the Tavascan offers a luxurious and high-tech environment. A dominant 15-inch multimedia touchscreen with built-in navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster are just a few of the tech features. The interior is also sustainable, with bucket-style seats and door cards made from recycled fibres and neoprene materials.

The Tavascan can be customised with one of four colours: Atacama Desert metallic, Basalt Grey soft, White Silver metallic, or Tavascan Blue metallic. Standard colours include Atacama Desert and White Silver, while Tavascan Blue and Basalt Grey are available as optional extras.

Safety is not compromised in the Tavascan's pursuit of performance and style. It is equipped with a range of features including adaptive cruise control, travel assist 2.5, side assist, exit warning, and exit assist, rear traffic alert, dynamic road sign display, intelligent park assist, attention and drowsiness assist, forward collision warning and braking, rain and light sensor, and alarm system.

The Tavascan is priced competitively for the electric luxury SUV segment, starting from £47,340 for the base model. Optional extras include packs like a Winter Pack (£1,335), which includes a heat pump, heated windscreen, and heated seats, available across all trims with heated rear seats as standard on the V2, VZ1, and VZ2 trims.

Customers can choose from a wide selection of accessories, including tow bar, roof rails, and mud flaps, with a mode 3 charging cable provided at no extra cost. The Tavascan is also available to lease from Wednesday, 11th September 2024.

In summary, the CUPRA Tavascan combines sporty coupe styling, sustainable premium materials, and a tech-rich cabin with strong electric performance and practical SUV utility, priced competitively for the electric luxury SUV segment. Each trim level adds its own unique enhancements, offering a tailored experience to suit different preferences. The Tavascan is a new all-electric SUV coupé introduced by CUPRA, marking their first foray into this vehicle category.
