Next-gen AirPods Pro announced by Apple
The tech giant Apple has announced the release of its latest audio devices, the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and AirPods (3rd generation).
Starting September 9, the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) will be available for $249 (US) for online and Apple Store app orders. Meanwhile, the AirPods (3rd generation) with Lightning Charging Case are available now for $169 (US), and the AirPods (3rd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case can be purchased for $179 (US).
The AirPods Pro (2nd generation) comes with several improvements, including a new extra small ear tip for a better fit and a redesigned charging case that is sweat- and water-resistant, complete with a lanyard loop. Users can enjoy up to 30 hours of total listening time with Active Noise Cancellation, thanks to the case providing four additional charges.
One of the standout features of the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) is Personalized Spatial Audio, which delivers a listening experience that is precisely tuned to the user's head and ears. This technology is available for music, movies, and TV shows across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. The device also offers Adaptive Transparency, which reduces loud environmental noise for more comfortable everyday listening.
In addition to these improvements, Apple has made efforts to minimize the environmental impact of its products. The AirPods Pro are free of potentially harmful substances such as mercury, BFRs, PVC, and beryllium. The redesigned packaging eliminates the outer plastic wrap, and 90 percent or more of the packaging is made using fiber-based materials.
Customers can personalize their AirPods Pro (2nd generation) charging case with their individual Memoji, and new subscribers can get Apple Music free for six months with the purchase of any AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max. Furthermore, customers can now add Memoji engraving to AirPods (2nd generation), AirPods (3rd generation), and AirPods Pro (2nd generation) cases for free, exclusively in the Apple Store app.
The AirPods Pro (2nd generation) offers a 1.5-hour increase in listening time over the first generation, providing up to six hours with Active Noise Cancellation. The device also features a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier for richer bass and crystal-clear sound across a wider range of frequencies.
The retail price of the Apple AirPods Pro 3 in Germany is 249 euros, available since September 19, 2025. The AirPods Pro will be available to order for $249 (US) from Apple's website/store and in the Apple Store app in the US and more than 50 other countries and regions starting Friday, September 9, with availability in stores beginning Friday, September 23.
