Nightpeak Energy Launches 150 MW Battery Storage Facility in Houston
Nightpeak Energy has launched a new 150 MW battery storage facility, Bocanova Power, near Houston. The project, located in Brazoria County, Texas, uses Tesla's Megapack 2 XL battery storage systems manufactured in Lathrop, California.
The facility operates under a long-term power purchase agreement with an unnamed investment-grade power purchaser. It provides quick-responding, flexible power to support the Houston region's peak capacity needs.
MUFG and Nord/LB served as co-lead arrangers on the debt financing for the project. MUFG also acted as Co-Lead Arranger, Issuing Bank, Hedging Bank, and Administrative Agent. Nightpeak Energy's Co-founder and CEO, Paris Hays, highlighted the company's speed in energizing projects to meet growing energy demands. The project is a 2-hour duration battery storage facility and Nightpeak Energy owns and operates 240 MW of similar facilities, with more projects planned in Texas and the Western U.S.
Bocanova Power, Nightpeak Energy's latest project, is now commercially operational. It demonstrates the company's commitment to providing affordable, reliable, and secure energy solutions. The facility's quick response and flexibility help meet the Houston region's peak capacity needs.
