Nio records a 2.53% increase in car deliveries for July, with a total of 21,017 vehicles delivered compared to the previous year.
In a significant move for Nio Inc, the electric vehicle manufacturer, the much-anticipated Onvo L90 flagship SUV has started deliveries on August 1, 2025. This new model launch for Nio's family-oriented sub-brand Onvo is expected to drive a meaningful increase in Nio's August vehicle deliveries.
The L90, priced competitively at RMB 265,800 including an 85-kWh battery pack, aims to be a game-changer in Nio's lineup. With aggressive pricing and a focus on strong sales growth, the L90 is poised to contribute to Nio's profitability goals for the year.
Pre-sales of the L90 began on July 10, 2025, with nearly 600 units available for test drives across over 400 Onvo showrooms in 140 cities. In response to strong market interest, Onvo increased the number of vehicles available for test drives from 600 to 1000 to reduce customer wait times.
The first deliveries of the L90 have begun in 44 cities across China, and the busy scenes at Onvo stores suggest that the L90 could significantly boost Nio Inc's August delivery volume.
Nio Inc delivered 21,017 vehicles in July, but the L90's deliveries were not included in this figure. Given management’s expectation that the L90 will generate gross profit even with aggressive pricing and its positioning as a key model to achieve Nio’s goal of first quarterly profitability in Q4 2025, the L90’s introduction should contribute significantly to August delivery volumes and enhance Nio's competitive edge in the electric SUV segment.
In the first seven months of the year, Nio Inc delivered 135,167 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 25.24 percent. However, the Nio main brand delivered 12,675 vehicles in July, a 38.16 percent decrease year-on-year and a 13.14 percent decrease from June. Onvo, on the other hand, delivered 5,976 vehicles in July, a decrease of 6.63 percent from June.
Firefly, another Nio sub-brand, has also made its debut this year, delivering 2,366 vehicles in July, a decrease of 39.83 percent from June. Cumulatively, Firefly has delivered 10,209 vehicles since its first vehicle deliveries in April.
The L90's launch could potentially impact Nio Inc's overall vehicle delivery numbers moving forward. As the L90 begins deliveries, the electric vehicle market will be eagerly watching Nio's August delivery figures to gauge the impact of this new flagship SUV.
