The automotive industry is taking a significant step towards making electric driving more accessible and cost-effective with the launch of the Nissan Charge app, a new EV charging platform integrated with Octopus Energy.

The app offers Nissan drivers access to over one million charging points across Europe, operated by more than 1,200 providers. This extensive network enables seamless charging across various locations, enhancing convenience for users traveling throughout the continent.

Leveraging Octopus Energy's award-winning EV charging platform, the Nissan Charge app provides optimized charging options that help drivers find the most cost-effective electricity rates. By identifying dynamic pricing opportunities and offering access to cheaper pricing through participating networks, the app aims to reduce charging expenses for EV owners.

The app also includes features such as Plug & Charge (PnC) functionality, allowing drivers to link their car to the account and just plug in without needing to activate on an app or swipe a card. Additionally, the app identifies real-time availability of charging points, facilitating quick, hassle-free payments.

Moreover, the Nissan Charge app is working on Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, which allows EV drivers to significantly reduce their home charging costs by enabling their car batteries to support grid stabilization and feed energy back to the grid when needed. This technology is a significant step towards making EVs play an active role in the energy system of tomorrow.

Furthermore, the app allows filtering by charging speed, plug type, and operator, ensuring that users can find the most suitable charging option for their needs. The app is also working on providing access to 80% of all chargers across Europe, making it easier for EV owners to plan and manage their charging needs efficiently and economically.

The Nissan Charge app is an important step in making electric driving seamless and accessible. By offering money-saving discounts, identifying dynamic pricing opportunities, and providing real-time information, the app aims to make EV charging more convenient and cost-effective for users. This integration is part of Nissan's broader goal to enhance the EV ownership experience and supports their 2030 targets for EV infrastructure and user accessibility.
