The automotive industry is gearing up for a shift towards more eco-friendly fuel options, and Nissan is at the forefront of this change. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder, naturally aspirated HR10 petrol engine in the Nissan Magnite has been E20 compliant since February 2025, making it one of the first vehicles in its class to embrace the new fuel standard.

Nissan is set to offer the facelifted Nissan Magnite starting in October 2024, and this model is expected to use petrol engines compatible with E20 fuel. The extended 10-year warranty on the Magnite, which begins from October 2024, is also a testament to Nissan's confidence in the durability of their E20-compatible engines.

However, specific details about other Nissan models compatible with E20 gasoline since October 2024 are not currently available.

The Renault Kiger and Renault Triber, priced at ₹ 6.30 Lakhs each, are also available with a 999 cc petrol engine. The Nissan Magnite, priced at ₹ 6.14 Lakhs, and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, priced at ₹ 7.58 Lakhs, are other competitive offerings in the same segment.

The upcoming Tata Punch Facelift, with a 1199 cc petrol engine, is expected to be priced between ₹ 6 - 11 Lakhs. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, priced at ₹ 7.76 Lakhs, is another option for those looking for a vehicle with a 1197 cc engine.

Nissan claims that both new and existing examples of the Magnite can run on E20 fuel without significant issues. The government also claims that the drop in efficiency when using E20 fuel is only 1-2%. Some vehicle owners have even reported a drop in fuel consumption of up to 15-20% when using E20 fuel.

However, it's important to note that the blend of ethanol (20 per cent) in petrol may cause enhanced wear and tear on the engine's cycle parts over prolonged use. Nissan will inspect and address any potential issues arising from the transition to E20 fuel during routine service appointments.

Using E20 fuel will not void the warranty on the Magnite and other Nissan cars sold after October 2024. This commitment to customer satisfaction and vehicle durability underscores Nissan's dedication to sustainable and efficient mobility solutions.
