Nissan's 2026 Sentra recently showcased its resemblance to the Sylphy model in a Photoshoot.

The automotive world is abuzz with anticipation as Nissan prepares to unveil its next-generation Sentra. Expected to hit showrooms as a 2026 or 2027 model, the new Sentra promises to be a formidable competitor in the compact sedan market.

Production of the next-generation Sentra is set to take place in the United States, marking a potential shift from Mexico. Pricing is expected to remain close to the current range, with a starting price around $22,000 and a top-end price in the mid-$25,000s.

As for powertrains, the Rogue's 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine is a strong candidate, but Nissan insiders suggest additional options may be on the table. U.S. options could include a 2.0L four-cylinder, 1.5L turbo, and Nissan's e-Power hybrid system, which is also being considered for the next-generation Sentra in North America.

The current 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is expected to remain the base option for North American buyers. However, further details about the next-generation Sentra's powertrains have not been shared yet by Nissan.

The new Sentra aims to take on sedans like the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Mazda3, Hyundai Elantra, and Kia K4. To compete effectively, the new Sentra will feature sharper styling and a slightly larger footprint compared to the current model.

The Sentra could be Nissan's only sedan in the US and Canada after the Versa and Altima are discontinued in 2025. Meanwhile, the redesigned Sentra is expected to go on sale in China in early 2026, with the 2026 Sylphy, which is similar to the next-generation Sentra for North America, having been officially revealed by Nissan.

The Sylphy features a sharper and sportier design, resembling the Murano and Nissan's new Chinese EVs like the N7 sedan. The front of the Sylphy includes a full-width LED light bar and slim headlamps, with vertical daytime running lights that resemble the "fang" motif once popularized by Peugeot.

The global debut of the next-generation Sentra is expected to happen later this year, possibly at the LA Auto Show in late November. With the automotive industry constantly evolving, the next-generation Sentra is shaping up to be a significant player in the compact sedan market. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
