Nothing more heart-meltingly cute than this Casio Ring Watch
Casio, the Japanese electronics company, has announced the release of a new ring watch, the CRW-001-1, as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. The ring watch is set to hit the market in December 2024, and while it is currently only available in Japan, it will soon be available through Casio's official online shops in select European countries for €119. It can also be found on international platforms like Chrono24 offering the model CRW-001-1JR with shipping to the US.
The CRW-001-1 ring watch is a departure from Casio's previous smartwatch offerings, such as the Pro Trek WSD-F21HRRD watch, which was not well received for its excessive smart features. Instead, Casio has focused on simplicity with the ring watch. It boasts a seven-segment LCD display that shows hours, minutes, seconds, date, and offers stopwatch, alarm, and dual city time functions. It also features an LED backlight and three navigation buttons.
The ring watch is waterproof and uses glass bonding technology for airtightness, ensuring durability and reliability. It is powered by a small button battery and is available in size 22, with adjustment spacers for sizes between 19 and 16. The ring watch is priced at ¥19,800 ($128 in USD).
This focus on simplicity is a reflection of Casio's approach for the ring watch, which is a departure from its more advanced offerings like the Casio GW5000U-1. The GW5000U-1, a tougher version of the original DW-5000C G-Shock, was released last year to mark the 40th anniversary of the G-Shock brand.
Casio has a history of releasing special watches to celebrate anniversaries. In fact, the G-Shock DW5600 was launched to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first Space Shuttle launch, featuring the ship's identification code on the band, along with various Easter Eggs. The ring watch, like the G-Shock DW5600 and the Casio GW5000U-1, is a testament to Casio's commitment to quality and innovation.
The ring watch, with its fully stainless steel design, is a unique addition to Casio's watch lineup. While it may not offer the extensive smart features of some of Casio's other watches, its simplicity and durability make it an appealing choice for those seeking a reliable and stylish timepiece.
