Optimism Completes Fifth Airdrop, Distributing $16M in OP Tokens
Optimism, a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum, has completed its fifth airdrop. This event benefited 1 million unique addresses, distributing 10.3 million OP tokens worth approximately $16 million.
The airdrop, which ended on October 9, 2024, rewarded users who interacted with 20 or more smart contracts within the Superchain ecosystem between March 15 and September 15, 2024. Bonus OP tokens were given for actions such as delegating OP or using seven protocols within the ecosystem.
Since its inception, over 265 million OP tokens have been distributed across five airdrops. As of today, roughly 550 million OP tokens remain for future distributions. The coins can be claimed until February 13, 2025. In May, Optimism developers added support for Layer 3 networks within the OP Stack.
The fifth airdrop by Optimism has concluded, benefiting a significant number of addresses and distributing a substantial amount of OP tokens. The project continues to expand its ecosystem and prepare for future airdrops, with the OP token price currently at $1.53 after a 6% decrease in the last 24 hours.
