The German automotive company, Sono Motors, is set to debut the final design of its innovative Sion solar electric vehicle this summer. As part of the series-validation phase, a limited number of Sion test cars will undergo rigorous testing in various climates to optimise solar technology, safeguard, and refine driving dynamics.

The series-validation phase is a crucial step before mass production, involving driving tests, reliability assessments, safety certification, and integration of user feedback. The purpose is to validate that the production-ready vehicle meets all regulatory standards, quality benchmarks, and customer expectations before full-scale manufacturing.

Sono Motors collaborates with various suppliers and manufacturing partners for production, and has previously worked with contract manufacturers experienced in automotive assembly. They also rely on technology partners for solar cell integration, battery supply, and vehicle electronics. Specific partners may include battery manufacturers, solar technology companies, and contract assemblers in Europe.

The Sion, an affordable solar electric vehicle with an estimated sales price point of just 28,500 euros gross, will be the first of its kind. Sono Group's mission goes beyond the Sion, aiming to make every vehicle solar, not just their own models.

The Sion's solar integration and bidirectional charging technology complement each other, potentially reducing the need for charging up to four times less than conventional electric cars of the same vehicle class with a similar battery size. This bidirectional charging technology is designed to turn the car into a sustainable power plant on wheels.

Sono Group's stock is traded on the OTCQB under the symbol SEVCF. Thyssenkrupp Automotive Body Solutions and Bertrandt will support series-validation vehicle production. The outer shell of the Sion will consist of 456 seamlessly integrated solar half-cells.

Sono Motors is building a fleet of 37 series-validation vehicles for the Sion, ushering in the Sion's testing program. This fleet consists of 16 complete cars and 21 test structures. For more detailed and specific information about the Sion vehicle testing program and its production partnerships, consult Sono Motors’ official communications or recent press releases. In the series-validation phase, technology partners will collaborate with Sono Motors to integrate solar cells, supply batteries, and manage vehicle electronics, extending beyond automotive assembly to companies specializing in solar technology and battery manufacturing. The series-validation phase also involves partners from the finance sector for quality benchmarks, regulatory standards, and cost optimization during the production of the solar electric vehicle Sion, a key player in the emerging finance and technology sectors of the automotive industry.
