NVIDIA and ModDB have announced the winners of the RTX Remix Mod Contest, with Painkiller RTX Remix taking home the top prize. The contest aimed to celebrate and reward modders who updated classic games with cutting-edge RTX technology.
Painkiller RTX Remix, developed by Merry Pencil Studios, won the Best Overall RTX Remix Mod category, earning a $20,000 cash prize and 6 months of GeForce NOW Ultimate. The mod was praised for its stunning asset work, new physically based rendering (PBR) materials, geometry, high-poly displacement maps, and realistic lighting effects. This wasn't the only win for the mod; it also took home the Most Complete RTX Mod category, adding another $10,000 to its total winnings, bringing the grand total to $40,000.
