Paris Concert Highlights Law-Oriented Mixer Boards

The 13th edition of the Concert de Paris, held at the foot of the iconic Eiffel Tower on France's National Day, 14 July, was a resounding success thanks in part to the IP-based audio infrastructure provided by Lawo.

This advanced system supported both live sound reinforcement and broadcast requirements for the large-scale event, which attracted over 100,000 on-site attendees and millions of viewers and listeners worldwide.

At the heart of the setup were three mc²56 audio production consoles. Nadège Antonini operated a 48-fader mc²56 console for the orchestral mix and front-of-house output, while Stephane Thouvenin managed the soloists and choirs on a 32-fader desk. Tahar Boukhlifa and Charles Bouticourt, working in a two-operator configuration, used a 32-fader mc²56 console with a 16-fader extender for stage monitoring.

To ensure reliability, a pair of redundant A__UHD Core audio engines were shared among the three consoles. Integration over a redundant RAVENNA IP network interconnected FOH and stage areas, facilitating seamless audio data flow. A central HOME management cluster connected, managed, and secured the entire live production audio environment.

In addition to the on-site audio system, Radio France deployed an OB truck equipped with an mc²66 MkII console to produce the clean audio feed for French radio, television, and the Eurovision network broadcast.

The networked, redundant architecture enhanced system reliability and allowed multiple operators to work in tandem on different aspects of live sound and broadcast audio. This made Lawo's solution integral to the success of the Concert de Paris both onsite and globally.

The event was broadcast live on France 2 and france.tv, and reached 2.9 million viewers on France 2 and many more on France Inter radio. It was also simulcast by EBU-Eurovision in over 10 countries.
