Philips Hue prepares to debut an array of novel items, with one particular product piquing my anticipation
New Philips Hue Products to Debut at IFA 2025
Philips Hue has announced that it will unveil a suite of new products at IFA 2025 in September, expanding its range of smart home solutions. The lineup includes the Hue Doorbell, Festavia Permanent Lights, Festavia Globe String Lights, and the Hue Bridge Pro.
Features
The Philips Hue Doorbell is a wired video doorbell, offering a significant upgrade with a 2K resolution, compared to its previous 1080p model. Designed for enhanced security, the new doorbell promises higher quality video streaming.
The Festavia Permanent Lights are designed for outdoor use, ideal for year-round installation, such as framing windows or running along walls. These smart string lights feature multiple round bulbs on a flat cable and offer both white and colored lighting effects, likely dimmable. However, details about the weatherproofing specs and operating temperature are yet to be confirmed.
The Festavia Globe String Lights, with their distinctive inner tube design, are customizable with light gradients, colors, and special effects for ambiance creation.
The Hue Bridge Pro is Philips Hue’s most advanced smart home hub. Powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Cortex A-35 CPU/GPU with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 8GB eMMC storage, it supports connection of up to 150 smart bulbs and 50 accessories, significantly more than the current Hue Bridge's 50-device limit. The new hub also supports up to 500 lighting scenes and introduces MotionAware technology, enabling lights to act as motion detectors.
Release Date and Pricing
Philips Hue plans to officially announce and showcase these products at IFA 2025 in September 2025, during a press event in Berlin. Pricing details have not been disclosed yet. For context, the current Hue Bridge (v3) retails around $65–$66, and previous Festavia string light sets have retailed near $200–$240, but exact prices for the new products remain unknown.
In summary, these new Philips Hue products bring enhanced smart home capabilities, including a high-resolution wired doorbell, advanced outdoor lighting options, and a powerful new hub with greater device capacity and motion sensing. Final release dates and prices are expected to be announced soon at IFA 2025.
