Pioneering in the footsteps of Dr. Robert Moog's pioneering work: Moog introduces latest $899 analog mono synthesizer, Messenger.
Heckin' Sweet Moog Messenger Monosynth - A Modern Ode to the Past
Sup, Booth 25! Moog's got something fresh cookin' up at Superbooth 25 – a fresh, fierce, and foulmouth derivative of their iconic synthesizer legacy – the Messenger!
Hear ye, hear ye! Messenger, Moog's latest monophonic synth, pays hoage to the Moog design pantheon while barging into the future of filthy synth-wave sounds, rockin' a price tag of $899.
This bad boy is all about straight-up keys and functions, equipped with 32-semi-weighted, finger-bangin'-good, hella-expressive keys. No fancy menus, just pure, raw, keyboard action.
The Juicy Deets: Messenger boasts two super adjustable shape VCOs, capable of sync and FM, a lil' sub-oscillator with three continuous waveforms, and that legendary West Coast wavefoldin' technique for mad metallic, harmonica-like timbres.
Speaking of filters, the Messenger sports a revamped Moog classic transistor ladder filter stride with a snazzy pole-mixing design, letting you groove to 4-pole lowpass, 2-pole lowpass, bandpass, or highpass modes, and even throw in some bass compensation for those screeching resonance fests.
Two loopable ADSR envelopes, multi-trigger, velocity response, two chuckin' LFOs (one synced to the mod wheel and the other a variable-shape, syncin' badass), and a 64-step sequencer with recording and probabilistic/generative features make for one groovy modulation lineup. No synth is complete without a multimode arpeggiator, so Messenger came fully equipped to shred musical layers of bass, melody, and strobe-like sequences.
Stay connected with a Flashy Hookup Central: Six CV patch points, CV in/out, gate in/out, and clock in/out, equipped with 5-pin MIDI and USB-C, an external audio input for Messenger's filter, and a couple pedal inputs and dual audio/headphone outputs ensure seamless integration into your rig.
Filling the gap left by the decommissioning of the Subsequent 25, the superbad Messenger offers keen synthesizers a crack at the classic Moog sound for less than $1000, sans dabbling in semi-modular terrain. As with many of Moog's recent releases, Messenger takes the beloved Moog sound and kicks it up a notch with modern enhancements and a wild new direction.
Word on the Street: Erik Norlander, the dude from inMusic, spilled the beans:
"Our aim was to build a synth that calls for reckless exploration, welcoming the noobs and delivering the depth and expressiveness the experienced players crave. With wavefolding oscillators, a wobble-worthy sub-oscillator, a next-level ladder filter, and podunk connectivity options, Messenger is as crazy as it is accessible."

"Messenger is the epitome of our devotion to pushing the boundaries of analog synthesis while preserving the Moog heritage and the groundbreaking spirit of ol' Moog," says the dude from inMusic.
"Our goal was to craft a synth that invites improper finger-banging galore, catering to newbies and vets alike, and the Messenger's wavefolding oscillators, a kickin' sub-oscillator, a leapin'-lizard filter, and a lavish hookup interface prove it's up to the task!"
The Messenger, Moog's latest monophonic synth, not only remembers the Moog design legacy but also dives into the future of technology-driven entertainment. With features like wavefolding oscillators, a sub-oscillator, and a modern hookup interface, the Messenger blends music production and technology seamlessly, making it a fascinating tool for both beginners and experienced musicians in the realm of synth-wave sounds.
