Polestar 5 Ditches Traditional Rearview Mirror for Digital Camera System
Polestar, the innovative electric vehicle brand, has introduced a groundbreaking feature in its upcoming Polestar 5 model. The car will replace the traditional rearview mirror with a digital rearview camera system, offering improved safety and passenger comfort.
The digital rearview mirror, first showcased in the Polestar Precept concept, provides a clearer view for drivers, particularly in challenging conditions. Ola Aldensjö, product manager for the Polestar 4, confirms the benefits of this feature. The system uses an 8.9-inch HD screen with a 121-degree field of view, offering a wider perspective than a traditional mirror.
Drivers can switch between the digital display and the standard rearview mirror mode, allowing them to see passengers in the back seat when needed. This innovation marks a significant departure from the traditional rearview mirror, which has been a staple in car design for over a century. By removing the traditional mirror, the Polestar 5 creates more space in the back of the car, enhancing passenger comfort.
Polestar's digital rearview mirror, debuting in the Polestar 5, offers improved driver visibility and increased passenger space. This technological advancement is set to redefine car design and safety standards.
