Polestar Unveils Digital Rearview Mirror in Precept Concept
Polestar has unveiled a pioneering digital rearview mirror that offers a unique blend of modern technology and traditional design. This innovative feature, part of the Polestar Precept concept car, allows drivers to switch between an HD screen and a conventional mirror.
The digital rearview mirror utilises a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view, transmitting real-time images to an 8.9-inch HD screen in the cabin. This provides enhanced visibility, particularly in low light or rain. When passengers in the back need a break from the screen, it can be switched to a traditional mirror.
The Polestar 4's lack of a rear window creates more space for passengers, adding to their comfort and luxury. This innovative feature is a significant departure from traditional automotive graphic design, harking back to early 20th-century racing cars. It is a result of technological advancements that have made such a feature possible. While the concept and integration were initiated by Polestar, collaboration with partners and technology companies may occur for specific components or technologies.
The digital rearview mirror in the Polestar 4 is more than just a gimmick; it offers improved driver visibility and a flexible solution for passengers. This innovative feature is a testament to Polestar's commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive graphic design and technology.
