Qualys Updates Vulnerability Management Platform for EOL Systems
Qualys has announced updates to its vulnerability management platform to help customers track and manage end-of-life (EOL) systems. The new features include EOL QIDs for Windows 7, Windows 2008, and Windows 2008 R2, as well as informational QIDs for extended security updates (ESU) on these systems.
Starting with version 2.4.815-2, Qualys Vulnerability Signature will include EOL QIDs for Windows 7 (QID 105859), Windows 2008 (QID 105858), and Windows 2008 R2 (QID 105793). These QIDs will allow customers to scan for and identify systems running these now-unsupported operating systems using Qualys Vulnerability Management (VM).
To help track these EOL systems, the Reporting Toolbox: Focused Search Lists v1.5 dashboard will include tracking widgets for these new QIDs. Additionally, Qualys recommends using Qualys Cloud Agent and authenticated scanning methods to identify vulnerable hosts effectively.
Microsoft is providing ESU for Windows 7 and Windows 2008/R2, and Qualys VM will soon provide informational QIDs to identify ESU support on these systems. Users can expect these updates to improve their ability to manage and secure their environments, even as older systems reach their end of life.
