Russian Businessman Ibrahim Suleimanov Detained Over Alleged Murder Plots
Russian businessman Ibrahim Suleimanov, known for his interests in IT and aviation, has found himself at the centre of a major criminal investigation. Over forty searches have been conducted across Moscow, the Moscow region, and Daghestan, with Suleimanov currently in custody, denying all charges.
Suleimanov's legal troubles began on 2 October when he was detained and subsequently remanded in custody for two months. His lawyer maintains that the accusations are unfounded. This is not Suleimanov's first brush with the law. In 2007, he was sentenced to over ten years in prison for fraud but was later released on parole.
The businessman, who owns or co-owns several businesses including Sirena-Travel, is now facing serious charges. He is accused of planning two murders and one attempted murder. Three men have been detained as his alleged accomplices in connection with an attempted murder in 2021. Investigators also suspect Suleimanov's involvement in the 2004 murder of Georgy Tal and the 2001 attempted murder of lawyer Ilya Peregudov. Moreover, Suleimanov may be linked to the 1999 murder of Gennady Borisov, the leader of the Vnukovo Airlines trade union.
The ongoing investigation into Suleimanov's alleged crimes has seen multiple searches and detentions. His co-owner in the main associated business, Rasul Suleimanov, is not currently linked to these criminal cases. As the probe continues, Suleimanov remains in custody, vehemently denying all charges.
