In a significant stride towards digital transformation, the unified government e-services app Sahel continues to make waves in the country. Launched in September 2021, Sahel has become the most widely used government application, offering over 460 services through various ministries and entities, as stated by Yousef Kazim, the spokesperson for the app.

Sahel's expansion and popularity position it as a crucial element in the country's digital transformation. The app, which facilitates electronic transactions for the government and its citizens, has completed 111 million electronic transactions with 2.9 million users since its launch. This growth, starting with 123 government services, has been significant, according to Kazim.

The high number of transactions conducted through Sahel demonstrates the public's confidence in the platform and the government's commitment to improving service efficiency. Al Jarida newspaper reported that Sahel has carried out over 32 million transactions this year alone.

The upcoming features for Sahel include the issuance of house and marriage certificates, a move that is expected to further streamline government procedures and enhance user experience. Additionally, Balag, a central reporting service, will be introduced as part of the upgraded Sahel.

The success of Sahel is attributed in part to the political leadership's support and the close follow-up by Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar. Kazem, the spokesperson, expressed appreciation for this backing, stating that it was crucial to Sahel's success.

The country's first integrated digital government journey, the Newborn Journey, has also been launched. This initiative, which streamlines multiple government procedures into simple, fast electronic steps, sets the stage for more services to adopt the digital journey model in the future.

The Newborn Journey is just one example of how Sahel is transforming the way citizens interact with the government. By facilitating electronic transactions and simplifying procedures, Sahel serves as a key tool for expediting transactions and easing the burden on citizens, residents, and government service centers, according to Kazim.

The expansion of Sahel's services and the introduction of new features position the app as a crucial element in the country's digital transformation. As more services move online, the convenience and efficiency offered by Sahel are set to benefit millions of citizens in the years to come.
