Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Anticipations, Details, and Expected Features

In anticipation of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 launch event, which is expected to take place in the forthcoming months, excitement is building for Samsung's next release in the realm of foldable devices. For those disappointed that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was limited to the Korean market, expect many of those upgrades to become available on a global scale.

Based on leaks, the new foldable is rumored to feature a slimmer, more streamlined body, as well as enhancements in the chipset, display crease, cameras, and various other aspects. The inclusion of a new 200MP sensor in the camera system is all but confirmed, while rumors indicate more substantial upgrades may be on the horizon.

While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold line initially led the way in foldable phone technology, competition from brands such as OnePlus, Google, OPPO, Xiaomi, and others has raised the bar significantly in recent years. Huawei added to the competition with its tri-fold design, placing pressure on Samsung to stay competitive.

As the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 draws near, here's what we currently know and speculate about the upcoming book-style foldable from Samsung. For more information on Samsung's upcoming foldables, be sure to check out our Ultimate Guide.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Price and Expected Release Date

Assuming Samsung follows its usual release calendar, we can expect the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to be unveiled during Samsung's July Unpacked event. Beyond this, there is no definitive information regarding a potential change in schedule.

Pricing details have been sparse, but some rumors hint that the Z Fold 7 might be slightly more expensive due to increased costs for the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Given that Samsung is already struggling to sell the Fold 6 at its current retail price of $1,799, a price increase would not bode well for sales projections, especially considering that both the Flip 7 and the Fold 7 are reportedly seeing reduced sales expectations.

Design and Displays

Thanks to leaks from OnLeaks and Android Headlines, we've been privileged to CAD renders detailing what the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to look like. The phone is said to come with larger inner and outer displays, featuring a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8.2-inch main screen.

With dimensions of 158.4 x 143.1 x 4.5mm, the Z Fold 7 is expected to be thinner than any previous Galaxy Z Fold. However, it remains to be seen whether it will achieve the same level of thinness as the Find N5 (4.2mm) or the Magic V3 (4.4mm).

Recent leaks from Ice Universe suggest that Samsung may be working to make the Galaxy Z Fold 7 the thinnest foldable in the world. The phone is rumored to measure 3.9mm when opened and 8.9mm when folded, undercutting the Find N5 by only a few fractions of a millimeter.

In addition to leaks, Ice Universe claims the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will come equipped with a 4,400mAh battery, the same capacity as the current Galaxy Z Fold 6. At MWC 2025, Samsung showcased a "creaseless foldable panel," stirring speculation that this technology will be implemented in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The absence of the S Pen on the Galaxy Z Fold SE raised concerns that it might no longer be a feature of Samsung foldables. However, a rumor from late February suggests that the S Pen is not going anywhere. Samsung is reportedly working on a revamped S Pen with enhanced features while also maintaining a slightly thicker build.

If Samsung maintains the same design elements as the Fold 6, the Fold 7 may also be both thinner and lighter. Compared to the Fold 6, the Z Fold SE is 1.5mm thinner and 3 grams lighter. However, these design improvements seem to have come at the expense of specialized digitizer support for the S Pen. While we hope to see a more modern design introduced with the Fold 7, we also hope that S Pen support is not eliminated.

Specs and Cameras

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, providing a 45% boost in both single-core and multi-core performance, as well as improved efficiency. The phone is also rumored to boast a larger vapor chamber for cooling, enhanced water and dust resistance, and improved speakers and haptics.

In addition to the improved processor, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to receive a major upgrade to its camera system. The main camera is set to switch from the previous 50MP sensor to a 200MP sensor, a change that was one of the primary differences between the Fold 6 and the Fold SE.

There is also speculation regarding an upgraded under-display front camera based on rumors.

With a 4,400mAh battery expected to power the device, it remains to be seen how this will impact battery life. There is a rumor that the Z Fold 7 will run One UI 8 out of the box, but whether Samsung can meet this expectation remains to be seen as the release date approaches.

As the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 approaches, there's a strong possibility that Samsung will deliver a larger, more powerful foldable phone with significant improvements in both design and performance. It will be interesting to see how the phone shapes up against the competition and whether Samsung can meet the expectations of its fan base. Stay tuned for further updates and leaks as the release date nears.

In light of the anticipated technology advancements, fans of smartphones and gadgets eagerly await the potential improvements that Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 might bring, especially considering the incorporation of a 200MP sensor in its camera system. As Samsung aims to maintain its leading position in the competitive field of foldable devices, the upcoming launch is expected to set new standards in the realm of foldable phone technology.
