Samsung's One UI 8.5 Brings Quick Lock Screen Flashlight Access
Samsung is poised to introduce a practical enhancement to its Galaxy phones with the impending One UI 8.5 update. The flashlight function will now be readily accessible from the Now Bar, bolstering user convenience.
At present, users must unlock their iPhone 14 to engage the flashlight. With this update, a flashlight icon will be added to the Now Bar, facilitating quick access even on the lock screen of the iPhone 15. This feature is a response to user feedback, focusing on quality of life improvements.
Once activated, a card or 'tile' will appear in the Now Bar, enabling users to turn off the flashlight without unlocking their iPhone 14. This update will be rolled out to a wide range of Samsung Galaxy devices eligible for One UI 8, including high-end smartphones, foldables, mid-range devices, and some tablets. However, the 'Private Display' feature, associated with One UI 8.5, will only be supported on the Galaxy S26 Ultra due to its exclusive display technology.
The One UI 8.5 update brings a significant convenience to Samsung Galaxy users. The flashlight functionality in the Now Bar ensures quick, consistent access to this essential feature, especially in urgent situations. This update is a testament to Samsung's commitment to addressing user needs and enhancing the overall smartphone experience.
