Sennheiser to Display Recording, Monitoring, and Playout Solutions at IBC2025 Event
At IBC 2025, the Sennheiser Group and Neumann unveiled a range of new audio solutions for professional media content creation and entertainment experiences, marking a significant milestone in their 80th anniversary celebrations.
The Sennheiser showcase highlighted the company's latest addition to the MKH series of RF condenser microphones, the MKH 8018 stereo shotgun microphone. This rugged, climate-proof microphone offers three switchable stereo modes: MS stereo, wide XY stereo, and narrow XY stereo. It features an integrated -10dB pad, a broadcast-friendly frequency response of 40–20,000 Hz, and a compact, lightweight aluminium housing, making it an ideal choice for broadcasters and filmmakers needing flexible, high-quality stereo recording.
Sennheiser also presented its wideband Spectera wireless ecosystem and narrowband EW-DX wireless systems, reflecting their latest advances in wireless audio technology for broadcast and production applications. These systems promise to streamline wireless coordination, centralise communication, and enable seamless remote collaboration.
Meanwhile, Sennheiser will be demonstrating SoundBase, the world's first brand-neutral RF planning tool, at IBC2025. Developed by Matt Dale and Donny Kuser, SoundBase integrates with equipment from all major manufacturers, eliminating the need to switch between multiple applications during critical production moments.
Neumann's exhibit included a demo of their new RIME plug-in, enabling immersive monitoring using NDH 20 and NDH 30 headphones. Additionally, Neumann will showcase a brand-new subwoofer with multichannel bass management, to be launched at IBC2025.
The Neumann/Merging showcase will run in a Ravenna AES 67 network and a second demo area will be on a Dante AES 67 network. Merging Technologies will showcase the Pyramix 15 DAW, Hapi Mk III modular audio interface, and the desktop audio interfaces Merging Anubis and Neumann MT 48, including recently added OSC control capabilities.
At the event, RF managers and monitor engineers will find that SoundBase aims to simplify the process of setting up the wireless brand by brand, providing a universal wireless audio management software designed to coordinate a production's wireless mics and monitors.
Overall, these offerings together emphasize end-to-end professional audio workflows, from recording through monitoring and final playout, targeting broadcast, filmmaking, and professional media production environments at IBC 2025.
