Shopping made easier with Pick n Pay's new mobile application!
Pick n Pay Introduces Revamped asap! and Smart Shopper App
Pick n Pay, South Africa's leading retailer, has launched an updated version of its asap! and Smart Shopper app, designed to offer a more convenient, rewarding, and streamlined shopping experience.
The new app boasts improved performance, AI-powered functionality, and a revamped user interface. It consolidates Pick n Pay's on-demand delivery service, Smart Shopper loyalty program, and value-added services, making it easier for customers to manage their shopping and deliveries.
One of the key features of the revamped app is the instant eSIM activation and self-RICA process. This allows users to activate their mobile number digitally without needing a physical SIM card or visiting a store, making sign-up on the go a breeze.
Customers can also build their own personalized mobile plans by selecting data, voice, and SMS allocations. These plans auto-renew every 30 days with no lock-ins or hidden fees, providing flexibility and control over mobile spend.
The app's integration with the Smart Shopper features is another highlight. Users can now pay with Smart Shopper points and use a virtual Smart Shopper card for smoother shopping and rewards redemption.
Enrico Ferigolli, Retail Executive at Pick n Pay, states, "Online at Pick n Pay, we are taking a significant step in accelerating growth and elevating the customer experience. In the coming months, we will introduce more exciting features to make shopping at Pick n Pay easier and improve the overall delivery experience."
The app launch aligns with Pick n Pay's new strategic direction under CEO Sean Summers, which includes a renewed focus on online retail. As part of this strategy, Pick n Pay's website will be relaunched with the asap! on-demand service, available from June 1, 2025, from 600 locations.
Moreover, customers can select their preferred store, load multiple payment cards, place multiple orders, schedule deliveries, and track orders using the app. Pick n Pay has also reported ongoing improvements in key operational metrics, including a 24% reduction in average delivery time in the first 11 weeks of FY26.
The delivery price for website orders will be reduced to R35 starting June 1, 2025. The app's AI search learns a customer's buying habits and provides smarter product recommendations, improving the overall shopping experience.
The new app is optimized for iOS and Android devices and up to 87% of Pick n Pay's deliveries are now done via motorbike. The CEO of Pick n Pay, Sean Summers, states that the launch of the new app is a major milestone since the launch of asap! in 2020.
Customers can earn and spend Smart Shopper points with every order, earning personalized discounts and Club benefits soon. The app's back-end and front-end technology have been entirely re-platformed over the last 18 months to ensure smooth operation and user-friendly functionality.
In summary, the revamped app enhances user experience by combining digital convenience, personalized mobile planning, and a richer Smart Shopper rewards program integrated tightly with shopping, all aimed at providing better value and control.
