Siemens Mobility Wins Major Order for Vectron MS Locomotives from Akdoğan Tren Kargo
Siemens Mobility has secured a significant order from Akdoğan Tren Kargo. The Turkish railway company is set to acquire five Vectron MS locomotives, designed for high-speed and multi-system operation across borders in Europe.
The deal includes a comprehensive ten-year full-service contract, with potential extensions of up to two years. This ensures the locomotives' optimal performance and minimal downtime. The Vectron MS locomotives are approved for use in 20 European countries, making them ideal for cross-border freight transport. They are capable of reaching speeds up to 200 km/h and can operate under various railway power systems, including AC and DC traction. Each locomotive will be equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) Baseline 3 and relevant national train control systems, enabling seamless international operation.
Delivery of the locomotives is scheduled to commence by the end of 2027. Once in service, they will be used for both domestic operations in Turkey and cross-border freight transport in Europe. This order builds on Siemens Mobility's proven track record, with over 2,800 Vectron locomotives sold to more than 100 customers worldwide, covering over 1.2 billion fleet kilometers.
Siemens Mobility's Vectron MS locomotives, with their advanced features and international approvals, will enhance Akdoğan Tren Kargo's fleet and capabilities. The ten-year full-service contract ensures reliable operation, while the locomotives' high-speed and multi-system capabilities will facilitate efficient cross-border freight transport.
