Slovakia Tightens COVID-19 Rules: Curfew, Mandatory Masks, UK Schools Reopen

Slovakia's cabinet has implemented stricter measures to combat the coronavirus. From March 3, a curfew will be in place, and from March 8, respirators will be mandatory in shops and public transport. Meanwhile, in the UK, schools will reopen on March 8 with regular testing for families of schoolchildren. In Brazil, protests erupted due to tightened restrictions, while in Slovakia, those testing positive for COVID symptoms will be required to isolate at home.

The Slovakian government's new rules aim to slow the virus's spread. The curfew will be in effect from 10 pm to 5 am daily. Respirators will be compulsory in public spaces, including shops and transport. In the UK, schools will welcome back students with a testing regime in place. Families will be tested twice a week, with rapid tests provided free of charge. In South Korea, doctors demonstrated resourcefulness by vaccinating seven people from one vial of Pfizer vaccine using special syringes.

In Brazil, residents of the capital took to the streets to protest against the tightening of COVID-19 restrictions. The specific details of these new measures remain unclear. Back in Slovakia, those who test positive for COVID symptoms will be banned from leaving their homes, except for medical reasons. Further restrictions on movement between areas may follow if current measures do not show positive results by March 21.

The global response to the pandemic continues to evolve. While Slovakia tightens restrictions and the UK plans a cautious return to schools, Brazil grapples with public unrest over its COVID-19 measures. Meanwhile, innovative vaccination techniques, like that seen in South Korea, offer hope for efficient vaccine distribution.
