SonicWall introduces fresh firewall models in its Generation 8 update

SonicWall, a leading cybersecurity company, has unveiled its Generation 8 firewalls, a high-performance platform designed primarily for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs). This new range of firewalls aims to provide an integrated, scalable solution that prepares service providers and their customers to address evolving cyber threats.

The new firewalls come equipped with a host of key features. One such feature is cloud-native unified management via a single console, simplifying the management of firewalls, network policies, and access controls. This streamlined approach reduces operational complexity for service providers.

Another notable feature is the built-in Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) capabilities. ZTNA enhances network security by enforcing strict access controls and minimizing lateral threat movement, aligning with modern cybersecurity best practices.

The portfolio of Generation 8 firewalls ranges from ultra-compact models like the TZ280 to high-performance firewalls such as the NSa 5800. These models are designed to cater to the security needs of small offices, distributed environments, and mid-sized enterprises.

Additional benefits of the Generation 8 firewalls include SonicWall Unified Management, a cloud console for streamlined management. Embedded Secure Remote Access Licenses simplify the deployment of secure cloud access for remote work scenarios. SonicSentry Co-Managed Security offers optional 24/7 monitoring, patching, and monthly reporting from SonicWall security experts.

The industry-first embedded Cyber Warranty is another significant advantage. Each managed firewall includes up to $200,000 coverage, boosting partner confidence and customer trust by mitigating cyber risk exposure. Subscription and Licensing Flexibility allow firewalls to be purchased via monthly subscriptions, with options to bundle co-managed security services for simplified billing and scalable deployments.

SonicWall's Generation 8 platform is positioned for use cases including SMBs, mid-market security, multi-tenant management, compliance-focused reporting, and full-stack offerings with warranties and optional cyber insurance coverage up to $1 million.

The new firewall lineup includes the ultra-compact TZ280 and the high-performance NSa 5800. Partners can choose from self-managed Advanced Protection Service Suite (APSS) or fully co-managed Managed Protection Security Suite (MPSS) monthly subscription packages with no minimums or long-term commitments.

SonicWall's president and CEO, Bob VanKirk, stated that the new firewalls will better prepare partners and their customers for the latest threats and market requirements. Jason Carter, SonicWall's chief revenue officer, commented that the platform gives partners every advantage to grow margins, differentiate offerings, and meet their customers' evolving needs.

The cloud-native management of the new firewalls is tailored towards service providers' needs. Each model of the new SonicWall firewalls can be purchased via a monthly subscription. The new firewalls come with built-in zero-trust capabilities and are covered through a built-in cyber warranty.

In summary, SonicWall's Generation 8 firewalls offer advanced protection, unified management, integrated Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), co-managed security services, and built-in warranty. This comprehensive solution is designed to help partners shift from resellers to high-value security providers and bolster their ability to build predictable recurring revenue.

The new SonicWall firewalls, part of the Generation 8 platform, include a cloud-native management system that simplifies the management of firewalls, network policies, and access controls for service providers. These firewalls also come with built-in Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) capabilities, enhancing network security by enforcing strict access controls and minimizing lateral threat movement. Additionally, each managed firewall includes up to $200,000 coverage through the industry-first embedded Cyber Warranty, boosting partner confidence and customer trust by mitigating cyber risk exposure.
