Staggering Revenue of $2 Billion Reached!
In the gaming world, InnoGames' Forge of Empires has proven to be a standout success, leading the company to surpass €2 billion in lifetime revenue as of mid-2025. This flagship title, developed by the German-based gaming company, has been instrumental in driving this milestone.
Forge of Empires' success can be attributed to several key factors. Primarily, the game's revenue is largely derived from in-app purchases, accounting for 99% of InnoGames' income since 2007. The game has also found strong footing in major markets such as the USA, Germany, and France, which are top grossing for InnoGames.
InnoGames' strategic focus on mobile gaming has also played a significant role in Forge of Empires' success. The company's mobile revenue share has grown from 27% (2007–2019) to 43% (2020–present), a testament to their long-term mobile growth strategy. This strategy has allowed them to balance PC and mobile platforms effectively.
Player engagement has remained high due to the continuous release of fresh content and events. This is evident in their confidence in newer titles like Heroes of History, which blends city builder and RPG elements.
Forge of Empires allows players to develop a village from a simple settlement to a futuristic metropolis. Other notable contributors to InnoGames' revenue, apart from Forge of Empires, include Tribal Wars, Grepolis, and Elvenar, each generating over €200 million.
InnoGames, now a part of the Modern Times Group headquartered in Stockholm, employs around 350 people from 40 nations. The company offers competitive salaries to its game developers and game designers, with ranges from 38,000 to 85,000 euros gross per year for designers and 48,000 to 96,000 euros for developers.
