Stripe Unveils Open Issuance, Revolutionizing Stablecoin Issuance
Stripe, a leading global technology company, has unveiled Open Issuance, a pioneering platform designed to streamline the issuance and redemption of stablecoins. This new service, powered by Bridge, a stablecoin infrastructure firm acquired by Stripe earlier this year, is set to transform the digital currency landscape.
Open Issuance allows businesses to issue and redeem stablecoins, set reserve mixes, and choose partners such as BlackRock and Fidelity. The platform's first stablecoin launch is CASH, an open-loop stablecoin by Phantom. Other notable partners include Hyperliquid with USDH and MetaMask with mUSD.
Stripe is incentivising stablecoin originations with rewards to attract customers. The company is also preparing for 'agentic commerce' through the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), developed in collaboration with OpenAI. This protocol enables AI agents to complete purchases inside tools like ChatGPT's Instant Checkout.
Stripe Billing now supports hybrid revenue models for AI companies, offering a mix of subscriptions and usage-based pricing. Furthermore, Stripe now supports recurring stablecoin payments and accepts stablecoins by default in the Optimised Checkout Suite.
