Success is ours! Apple admits to rectifying its Photos application.
Cheers, mates! Apple's finally addressing the meddlesome redesign of the Photos app in iOS 26, leaving us all pissed-off iPhone users breathing a collective sigh of relief. At their WWDC 2025 keynote, Apple announced this much-needed update, and the crowd erupted - proof that people had been fed up with the damn scroll-happy Photos app for far too long.
Users likely spent the last year cursing their devices and sending off fiery letters to Apple HQ. You know, those times when you scroll through endless selfies, screenshots, and those darn pet photos just to find your albums - a bloody pain in the arse, if you ask me.
So, last year, Apple went ahead and 'simplified' the Photos app with a single-scroll design, pushing your carefully organized folders to the bottom and promoting their curated 'People & Pets' collections instead. While Apple meant well, it turns out that users - especially those with thousands upon thousands of images - weren't exactly thrilled about having to aimlessly search for their photos like some sort of digital archeologist.
People complained, and it seems Apple listened.
"A lot of you been missing the tabs in the Photos app," admitted Craig Federighi, Apple's Senior Vice President for Software Engineering during the keynote. In the redesign, Photos will now feature two main tabs: Library and Collections, and your albums and favorites are once again just a tap away.
While it's not a full return to the old, cherished menu, it's a step in the right direction, at least. We're still only getting two main options upfront, but with the new "Liquid Glass" aesthetic, menus are now expandable, collapsible, and deliciously clear, offering hope that even more functionality might be just a tap away.
So, we didn't quite get everything back, but we got enough to feel vindicated. Sometimes, griping really does solve issues. iOS 26 is set to drop later this year, so keep an eye out for more updates as we check it out!
