Switzerland's Tech Industry Embracing AI at Rapid Pace

Switzerland's tech landscape is witnessing a significant shift towards artificial intelligence (AI) integration. In March 2024, Phoenix Technologies, a prominent Swiss tech cluster, partnered with global tech giant IBM to introduce a sovereign AI solution powered by IBM WatsonX. This collaboration signals a substantial step forward in AI adoption within the country's tech industry.

The shift towards AI is not limited to large corporations. Small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) are also embracing the technology at an increasing pace. According to recent surveys, 34% of companies now use AI to optimise work tasks, a significant jump from the 23% recorded in 2024. This trend is further underscored by the fact that only 29% of companies do not use AI, down from nearly half in 2024.

AI is being integrated into various aspects of business operations. Around half of the surveyed 300 companies use AI for translation and correspondence. Furthermore, 38% employ AI for advertising texts, and 32% use it for data analyses, marking a substantial increase from 22% in 2024. The proportion of companies testing AI has also risen, from 33% in 2024 to 37% currently.

The Swiss business landscape is undeniably moving towards AI integration. With 45% of SMEs rating AI positively, and 60% seeing it as an opportunity, the shift is likely to continue. The conscious integration of AI into work processes has risen from 22% to 34% in just a year, indicating a growing acceptance and understanding of the technology's potential benefits.
