Tesla's Child Left Alone Detection Feature Expands to UK Model Y Owners

Tesla's safety features continue to evolve, with the latest development being the expansion of the Child Left Alone Detection (CLAD) feature to some Model Y owners in the UK. This announcement follows the successful rollout of the feature in various global markets.

The CLAD feature, originally introduced in update 2025.14.12, uses Tesla's Cabin Radar technology to detect subtle movements, such as breathing, even through blankets or car seats. If the system detects an unattended child, the vehicle will flash its exterior lights, play an alert tone, and send a notification to the Tesla mobile app. The warnings repeat at regular intervals until someone returns to the car.

This feature has already been live on some UK vehicles, and the latest software update, 2025.32.6, is now making it available to more Model Y owners in the region. Interestingly, the 2025.32.3.1 release, which was rolled out last week, also resolved a compatibility problem between Start FSD from Park and the "PIN to Drive" security setting.

The in-cabin radar technology that powers the CLAD feature is available in Model Y (2022 and newer), Model 3 (2024 and newer), Cybertruck, Model S and Model X (2021 and newer). It's worth noting that the cabin data processed by the CLAD system is never transmitted to Tesla.

Owners can enable or disable the CLAD feature at their discretion. To do so, navigate to Controls > Safety > Child Left Alone Detection in the car's settings.

Tesla vehicles equipped with the CLAD feature outside the United Kingdom include the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y in various global markets. However, the feature rollout varies by region and regulatory approval; specific models beyond the UK with this feature have not been exhaustively detailed in the available data.

Last week's 2025.32.3.1 release also addressed a long-standing Bluetooth audio lag issue on AMD-based infotainment units, further improving the overall user experience for Tesla drivers.

As Tesla continues to innovate and refine its safety features, the CLAD expansion to the UK is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and peace of mind of its customers.
