Tesla Launches Refreshed Model Y in North America, Availability in Canada Expected by March
Tesla has announced the launch of the refreshed Model Y in both the USA and Canada. The new Long Range AWD variant of the Model Y is now available for order, with deliveries expected to begin as early as March 2025.
The new Model Y Long Range AWD comes with several key features. It boasts a 6-seat configuration, larger dimensions with approximately 7 inches longer length, 1 inch taller height, and 6 inches longer wheelbase than the previous model. The vehicle also offers up to 2,539 liters of storage space, electric armrests on second-row seats, an improved audio system with 18 speakers, and advanced driver-assistance features including Full Self-Driving (Supervised) capability.
The new Model Y Long Range AWD is estimated to have a driving range of 327 miles, going from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. However, it's important to note that the range and 0-60 time for the Canadian model may vary from the USA model.
One notable change is the introduction of a new paint color, Diamond Black, for the Model Y. This new color is available for an upgrade of $1,500. Unfortunately, the Diamond Black paint color is not available for the Model Y in Canada at this time.
The new Model Y Long Range AWD starts at $48,990 USD in the USA. In Canada, the starting price is $69,990 CAD. However, those in Canada can save $1,000 off the new Long Range Model Y with the use of a referral code. It's worth mentioning that the referral code offer is not applicable for the new Diamond Black paint color for the Model Y in Canada.
The previous Model Y Launch Edition is no longer available. The new Model Y Long Range AWD is available for delivery in 1-3 weeks.
The Model Y L variant, which includes the 6-seat configuration and other new features, is anticipated in North America likely in late 2025 or early 2026 after initial launches in China and Europe. The refreshed Model Y is available for order in China starting August 2025, with deliveries beginning in September 2025.
