Timex Marlin undergoes a transformation, blending classic aesthetics with travel-inspired elements within its traditional design.
Timex Revives the Marlin Collection with the Introducing the Marlin Quartz GMT
The Timex Marlin Quartz GMT is the latest addition to the iconic Marlin collection, bringing a dual time zone GMT complication to the classic 1960s-inspired design. This model offers a harmonious blend of vintage aesthetics and modern functionality.
The Marlin Quartz GMT boasts a 40mm polished stainless steel case, a domed acrylic crystal that harks back to the original Marlin watches, and a blue sunray dial with faceted markers, a date window, and a distinctive red triangle GMT hand. The GMT hand can be set independently, thanks to the "caller" GMT movement.
Key design features include:
- A vintage-style domed acrylic crystal, offering a warm, retro appearance while ensuring durability and polishability.
- A polished 40mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 13mm, maintaining a modern size yet with retro proportions.
- Two band options: a quick-release stainless steel bracelet or a sustainably tanned blue leather strap, both allowing easy strap changes without tools, enhancing versatility.
The Marlin Quartz GMT extends the heritage style of the Marlin line by incorporating a practical travel feature that was not present in the original vintage-inspired models. It retains hallmark Marlin traits like the warm acrylic crystal and sleek indices while adding the GMT complication in a subtle, well-integrated way.
This model is available in three different configurations: navy dial with gold-tone accents on leather strap, black dial with gold-tone case and matching bracelet, and blue dial with steel case and bracelet. The Marlin Quartz GMT's strap options include black leather and steel bracelet.
The Marlin GMT's leather option utilizes sustainable tanning from the Leather Working Group, demonstrating Timex's commitment to environmental responsibility. The Marlin Quartz GMT's case size has been increased to 40mm, and it maintains balanced proportions despite its 13mm thickness.
Incorporating modern quartz movement ensures accuracy and low maintenance, bridging classic design with contemporary watchmaking standards. The Timex Marlin Quartz GMT stands out for blending retro style, enhanced functionality for dual time zones, and modern convenience features, securing a distinctive role in renewing the Marlin collection for modern users with travel or multi-timezone needs.
