Transformed Radical Ideologies
In the heart of Surat, India, H+A Studio's new workspace, Re:Form, is turning heads. Designed by the principal architects Aayushi Amit Gajjar and Harihar Lacewala, this 1,500 sq. ft. office space is a testament to creativity and sustainability.
Re:Form was born from the demolition of H+A Studio's former office. Instead of viewing the waste left behind as a setback, the architects saw an opportunity. They used the discarded materials, such as plywood scraps, artificial wooden substitutes, and discarded fixtures, to build their new workspace. This approach not only showcases a sustainable design philosophy but also adds a unique character to the space.
The Re:Form studio is not your typical office. It is unconventional, energized by vibrant colours, and designed to be modular and multifunctional. Every element within the workspace is deliberately designed to be modular—meaning the elements can be rearranged, adapted, or repurposed—and multifunctional, allowing the space to evolve organically according to different needs.
The design strategy for Re:Form is centered around adaptability. The workspace does not promote a fixed layout. Instead, it is designed to reconfigure itself at a moment's notice. This approach moves away from static office design towards an adaptable environment that encourages flexibility and dynamic reconfiguration.
The Re:Form studio is less a static office and more a dynamic toolkit. Every element, from the furniture to the partitions, is designed to be modular. This means that the workspace can be easily reconfigured to accommodate changes, making it a workspace that evolves rather than expires.
In summary, Re:Form embodies a constantly evolving workspace through the reuse of materials and a design strategy focused on modularity and multifunctionality. This innovative approach creates a dynamic and sustainable office environment that caters to the ever-changing needs of the team at H+A Studio.
