Two ex-leaders from 10T Holdings establish a fresh startup that centers around investing in virtual currencies.
In the ever-evolving world of digital assets, a new venture capital firm named Halo Capital has entered the scene. The firm, launched by Daniel Howard and Bhavin Vaid, aims to be value-added investors in the space, focusing on a generalist fund across the entire crypto ecosystem.
Halo Capital's inaugural funding stands at $25 million, and the fundraising for the inaugural fund started in March, with the firm officially launching in June. The partners' names are being kept private for now.
Before joining the crypto industry, Daniel Howard spent most of his career in computer science and artificial intelligence. Bhavin Vaid, a partner at Halo Capital, has a background in finance, having worked at Goldman Sachs Group and Cerberus Capital Management.
The new firm's strategy likely involves leveraging technology to provide institutional-grade access and protective investments in digital assets, including blockchain-related technologies, cryptocurrencies, and associated infrastructure. This approach may focus on marrying venture investment with sophisticated asset structuring to build resilient, risk-managed portfolios in the digital asset space.
Halo Capital has already made investments in the digital asset sector. One such investment is Solana-based decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN), a project that recently raised $18 million. The firm has also contributed to Bitcoin-based stablecoin issuer Bima Labs' $2.5 million seed round in July.
Vaid believes that Halo Capital's ability to take a differentiated and research-driven approach to investing in early-stage crypto projects will be vital. The fund is designed to bring the mindset of growth investors to early-stage crypto projects, aiming to invest across the entire spectrum of the crypto industry, including Bitcoin and decentralized AI.
Howard and Vaid have brought in about 20 partners for Halo Capital, ranging from company founders to research experts. As the digital asset landscape continues to evolve, Halo Capital is positioned to play a significant role in shaping its future.
