Uber NZ Boosts EV Access for Drivers and Delivery Personnel with New Partnerships
Uber New Zealand has partnered with Mevo, GVI, and Macquarie Group to enhance electric vehicle (EV) access for drivers and delivery personnel. The collaborations aim to tackle the high upfront cost barrier and encourage EV news in New Zealand. Uber has invested $7.5 million over two years to promote EV usage. Through its partnership with GVI, drivers and delivery people can access financing options with potential $0 deposit, loan terms ranging from 12 to 60 months, and a 12-month battery warranty. Additionally, GVI offers used EV financing and e-scooter discounts for delivery personnel. Uber's collaboration with Mevo provides discounted weekly EV rental options, with no long-term commitment. Furthermore, Mevo's BYD Atto 3 rental is available from $230 per week (including GST), including a 1600km monthly mileage allowance. These initiatives aim to increase EV availability, with nearly 5% of kilometres driven on Uber's New Zealand platform in the last quarter already in EVs. Uber New Zealand's partnerships with Mevo, GVI, and Macquarie Group are set to enhance EV accessibility and affordability for drivers and delivery personnel. These collaborations address the high upfront cost obstacle, offering financing options, rental discounts, and e-scooter incentives.
