Ukraine Dazzles EU Nations with Drone Defense in Danish Skies
Representatives from various European nations witnessed Ukraine's drone-defense capabilities firsthand in a recent exercise held in Danish airspace. The demonstration, part of an exchange of battlefield experience between Ukrainian and Danish forces, saw Ukrainian military personnel successfully intercept and destroy a Danish 'Banshee' drone using a 'Sting' drone.
The joint defense demonstration, which took place alongside NATO and EU partners, aimed to strengthen air defense capabilities, with a particular focus on drone defense. Ukraine, having previously collaborated with EU countries and NATO members to defend against UAV attacks, shared technology and operational support for air and drone defense systems.
During the exercise, Ukrainian specialists launched a 'Sting' drone that successfully intercepted and destroyed a Danish 'Banshee' drone. The successful interception was recorded on video and Ukrainian drone operators received numerous inquiries from foreign counterparts afterward. The operation coincided with joint military drills in Denmark, 'Wings of Defense', focusing on countering aerial threats, particularly strike drones.
Separately, Danish authorities detected a Russian naval vessel operating near national waters during the same period as the unidentified drone sightings. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen discussed these incidents amid concerns over possible Russian reconnaissance activity in the Baltic region.
