The tech giant Huawei and automobile manufacturer SAIC Motor have announced the launch of their first joint venture vehicle, the Shangjie H5 EREV. This extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) promises to deliver a competitive edge in the mid-range electric vehicle (EV) market with its impressive driving range and advanced features.

The Shangjie H5 EREV is available in two variants: a pure battery electric vehicle (BEV) and an EREV. The EREV variant boasts a CLTC battery range of 230 kilometers, requiring only one charge per week under typical daily commuting conditions. This is complemented by a combined driving range of up to 1,300 kilometers, making it an ideal choice for young urban users who seek extended driving capabilities with infrequent charging.

The pure electric (BEV) variant offers a CLTC range exceeding 655 kilometers, further cementing the Shangjie H5's position in the mid-range EV market.

The EREV variant is powered by a 32.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, paired with a 150 kW electric motor and a 1.5L internal combustion engine producing 72 kW. This combination allows the vehicle to achieve its extended range.

The Shangjie H5 EREV also incorporates Huawei's ADS 4 advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), enhancing safety and convenience for its users.

The first model from the Huawei-SAIC joint brand, the Shangjie H5, is set to launch in September. With its competitive driving range and advanced features, the Shangjie H5 EREV is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market.
