Unveiling of SmallHD's Quantum 27 OLED Display
SmallHD, a leading manufacturer of on-set monitoring solutions, has launched a new addition to their Quantum series: the Quantum 27. This 26.5-inch 4K UHD (3840x2160) OLED monitor is designed to deliver exceptional image quality for colour-critical cinema and broadcast work.
The Quantum 27 is a more manageable size than its sibling, the Quantum 32, yet it offers nearly identical colour performance and resolution. Weighing approximately 9.6 kg (21 lbs), it is about 6 pounds lighter than its larger counterpart. This makes it ideal for multimonitor setups and on-set use, where portability and versatility are key.
The Quantum 27 features a rugged unibody smart chassis with multiple mounting points, including 100mm VESA and dovetail rails for accessories and batteries. It also comes with a handle and feet for easy handling. The monitor is compatible with either Gold Mount or V-Mount battery brackets, providing flexible powering options.
The Quantum-Dot OLED panel used in the Quantum 27 directly emits narrow-spectrum RGB light evenly in all directions, ensuring uniform luminance of up to 1,000 nits. This high brightness, combined with a very high contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, results in an HDR capability that covers over 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
The Quantum 27 offers four 12G/6G/3G/HD-SDI inputs and outputs and HDMI 2.0 in/out, supporting 4Kp60 signals. It also includes WiFi for wireless remote control, 2-pin power output, USB-C power output, and a USB-A power output.
SmallHD's PageOS operating system powers the Quantum Series monitors, providing features like exposure tools and monitor calibration wizard with Calman integration. The Quantum 27's screen resolution is not specified, but it offers a viewing angle of up to 60 degrees.
Matt Eidenbock, product manager for SmallHD, stated that the Quantum 27 offers the same incredible image quality as the Quantum 32 but in a more manageable size. Consistent colour reproduction across the entire screen allows for precise creative decision-making and ensures accurate calibration. The monitor also includes a Universal 100-millimeter VESA mount and ARCA Rail on the back for easy mounting.
The Quantum 27 is positioned as a reference-grade HDR monitor suitable for post-production and on-set use. It is expected to be available in August 2025, with a pricing of approximately $11,499 as of July 2025.
