Updated Changan Deepal L07 model debuts with Huawei's advanced autonomous driving technology
Deepal L07: Affordable Luxury in the Electric Vehicle Market
The Deepal L07, a midsize sedan offered by Changan Automobile's sub-brand Deepal, has made a significant entry into the electric vehicle market. This vehicle is not just a single model in Deepal's lineup, but also includes the S05 SUV, S07 SUV, SL03 sedan, and G318 SUV.
The L07, in particular, stands out for its impressive dimensions and range. It boasts a length of 4,875 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,480 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. The L07 is available in both BEV and EREV variants, each offering unique features and performance.
The Deepal L07 BEV variant is powered by a rear motor with a maximum power of 200 kW (272 hp) and a maximum torque of 290 Nm. This setup enables the BEV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 6.2 seconds. The BEV variants come standard with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with capacities of 56.12 kWh and 68.82 kWh, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 550 km or 660 km, respectively.
On the other hand, the EREV variant includes a 1.5L engine range extender producing 70 kW and a rear-wheel-drive electric motor with 175 kW power. The EREV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 7.4 seconds. The EREV's battery pack is a 28.39 kWh LFP, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 240 km and a combined range exceeding 1,500 km when fully fueled and charged.
Both variants come standard with Huawei's Qiankun ADS SE smart driving assistance system, making the L07 the lowest-priced vehicle to include this system. This system enhances assisted driving capabilities and has been installed in over one million vehicles.
Deepal, Changan's new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, unveiled in 2022, is offering a discount of RMB 10,000 to customers who purchase any variant of the L07 before August 31. The BEV variants have starting guide prices of RMB 145,900, RMB 155,900, RMB 155,900, and RMB 165,900, while the EREV variants have starting guide prices of RMB 145,900 and RMB 155,900.
In the competitive electric vehicle market, the Deepal L07 offers a balance of powerful motors, long electric range, and a sophisticated Huawei smart driving system, positioning itself strongly in the mid- to high-end segment.
Meanwhile, Changan Nevo is teasing a new Q05 compact electric SUV, expected to rival the BYD Yuan Up. As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how these new models fare against their competitors.
