Volvo Unveils EX30, Its First Small Electric SUV in North America
Volvo has unveiled its first small, fully electric SUV, the EX30, in North America. The car, manufactured in China, is set to expand Volvo's electric vehicle lineup and promote sustainability with a low carbon footprint. However, it will not qualify for IRA incentives in the USA.
The EX30, set to start at $34,950 in the USA, offers an estimated range of 275 miles for its Single Motor Extended Range variant. For those seeking more power, the Twin Motor Performance variant delivers 422 hp and accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.
Embodying Scandinavian design and sustainability, the EX30 has a total carbon footprint of less than 30 tons over its lifetime. Volvo has been reorganizing its business in China, where the EX30 will be manufactured, to combat slowing sales. Despite being owned by China's Geely, the manufacturer for the EX30 in China remains unclear.
To educate customers about electric vehicles, Volvo has created the Volvo Mobile Studio. This traveling experience features three interior lounge areas, a high-fidelity music system, and a coffee café.
The Volvo EX30, with its impressive performance, range, and sustainability credentials, is set to hit US markets soon. Its unique design and the innovative Volvo Mobile Studio experience promise an exciting addition to the electric vehicle landscape in the USA.
